Report: New Nintendo Switch model uses new Nvidia chip with DLSS for 4K output – Polygon1 min read

The next version of Nintendos Switch hardware will consisted of an updated Nvidia chip and support the chipmakers Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology, Bloomberg reported Tuesday. That feature will allow the upgraded Nintendo Switch to output 4K visuals when docked and plugged into a TELEVISION, the report says.
The new Switch, which has not been formally revealed by Nintendo, will reportedly include a 7-inch OLED screen with 720p resolution, and might cost upward of $399.99, experts told Bloomberg. The current version of the Nintendo Switch offers for its initial launch rate of $299.99, while the Switch Lite (envisioned above) costs $199.99.
The addition of DLSS would be an advantage for brand-new games and developers. Nvidias technology utilizes AI to accelerate graphics rendering through image restoration, keeping high image quality while delivering enhanced frame rates. In other words, it allows a video card to render a video game at a lower internal resolution– decreasing the load on the GPU– as it uses Nvidias AI algorithm to create a rebuilt image that looks as good as (or, sometimes, better than) the game rendered at native resolution.
Previously, developers needed to work straight with Nvidia to support DLSS in their games, causing limited support of the feature. A current modification to Epic Games extensively secondhand Unreal Engine added assistance for the technology as a plug-in for the game advancement toolkit.
Nintendos brand-new Switch revision will reportedly be launched later on this year, in time for the vacations.
