Striking up a romantic relationship with a character in Mass Effect 3 will make you a beautiful photo of their face that sits on the desk in Commander Shepards quarters. Its a great touch, however for Tali romancers its especially special, since it means you in fact get to see her face without her helmet on. In the old ME3, that image of Tali was a stock picture of a model edited to look a bit alien. However now in the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, BioWare have actually swapped it out for a much more “realistic” pic.
For context, TaliZorah is a quarian: a race of humanoid aliens that never ever take off their unique area matches (since they have terrible body immune systems). That image of her on your desk is the only one of her face youll ever see, which is why it was so frustrating that the original image looked like this:
Its excusable at a glimpse, however once you start thinking of it, it really is an odd photo (from the Mass Effect wiki).
Its an edited version of this stock picture and theres simply so much wrong with it. Whoever modified the photo lopped off 2 of the (human) designs fingers to reflect that quarians just have three, but her fingers are the wrong length! The bottom finger ought to be little, but its the exact same size as the middle one!! Its such a particular thing to be frustrated at, and the more I look at it, the funnier I find it.
Thankfully, BioWare have swapped out this daft photoshop for an image of Tali that looks as though it couldve been taken in-game. Heres the improved and new pic “Maxgoods” posted on Reddit:

This is just one of the numerous enhancements BioWare have made to their space-RPG trilogy with the Mass Effect Legendary Edition. The biggest tweaks revolve around the very first game, which the devs have brought more in line with the follows up – with enhanced battle, a better character creator, and loads of upgraded textures and graphics. Im currently playing through ME1 myself and I keep finding myself murmuring, “it just looks so great”, every time I arrive at a new planet.
Tali still has white eyes and some alien-ish face lines, but in keeping with her quarian heritage she hasnt left the safety of her fit – plus she isnt presenting like shes about to be on the cover of Rannoch Vogue. She still looks a bit boringly human (particularly compared to her old idea art), however at the minimum she seems anatomically appropriate.
A far more natural posture.
If you desire this lovely photo of Tali on your Shepards desk, youll have to play through both ME2 and ME3 to romance her. I personally think she has the very best character arc in the series, so I do recommend learning more about her if youre playing a dude Shep (unfortunately, FemShep cant date her).
