Dark theme was the most significant feature in Android 10, and on Pixel, it adopted a true black theme to AMOLED-lovers pleasure. Now, in the second preview of Android 12, Google is making its dark theme even lighter than it remained in the very first preview.
In case you missed it, Android 12 DP1 changed the Pixels dark style from true black to a dark grey, typical in Googles apps. Now, with this newest release, the style has changed once again, going even further from the dark, dark black to a lighter gray. Personally, I like this look, but its going to be frustrating for some users visual tastes.
The modification can best be observed side-by-side with DP1, as imagined above, but its a stark difference youll discover the 2nd you begin using a phone running this variation of the platform.
Why the abrupt change? Were not completely sure. Google announced that even grey themes can save battery on OLED shows compared to white, so it stands to factor that a lighter grey would reduce battery savings. Its an odd choice, however like I said, I dig the appearance of it.
Android 12 DP2 is now offered for download, and were still digging through all of the changes. Feel complimentary to drop a remark below or ping me on Twitter if you see anything new that we havent covered yet.
